Episode Summary |

Homer stays home while Marge and the kids go to church. He takes advantage of his freedom by running around in his underwear, making his favorite waffles and watching television. Homer has such a wonderful time, he decides to stay home every Sunday morning.
Homer tells Marge he is giving up church and will instead practice his own religion. Marge is distressed, but that night, Homer dreams that God sanctions his new faith. The following Sunday, Homer stays home, pulls out his old Playdude magazines and lights a cigar. He falls asleep and the cigar sets the house ablaze.
Homer is trapped in the flames but Flanders braves the intense heat and drags him to safety Volunteer firemen Krusty, Apu and Reverend Lovejoy assures Homer that God is not against him but rather is in the hearts of those who saved his home. Homer denounces his new religion and the following Sunday attends church where he falls fast asleep. |
