These drawings often feature notes and guides written alongside to help animators create a cel set-up. It is common for production drawings to be framed along with their matching finished cel set-up. Even though the show has abandoned cel animation, production drawings are still used today when creating an episode using a digital system.

Simpsons giclees are the latest in reproduction animation art. Giclee is a french word which means 'spray of ink'. These pieces of artwork showcase an amazingly high resolution with more than four million droplets of ink per second sprayed on canvas. Images appear lush and velvety with the luminosity feel of a strikingly rich watercolour.
