Episode Summary
When the Simpsons' TV set breaks, Marge tells her children how she and Homer met. The year is 1974. A young Homer smokes cigarettes and ditches class, while Marge kindles the women's movement by burning her bra. Both end up in detention hall. WHen Homer sees Marge, he falls instantly in love.

To impress Marge, Homer signs up for the debate team. Then he asks Marge to tutor him in French so he can sweet-talk her. After accepting his invitation to the prom, Marge finds out that Homer does not care about French or debating but is only interested in her She tells Homer she hates him and accepts Artie Ziff's invitation to the prom.

Undaunted, Homer goes to the prom alone. Later, when Artie tries to get romantic with Marge in the backseat of his car, she demands to be taken home. On the way, they pass Homer walking on the side of the road. Marge returns in her car to pick Homer up, realizing that he was the man or her all along.
